......The Return of Robert Thompson.
My day started off as any other pre-op mourning. I awoke later than I normally would since on this day I would be traveling alone, nor was I the game producer for this one, Mr. YellowJacket would be Quarterbacking this day, "Great, I would just be a regular paintballer and foot soldier today." I had taken the tyme out earlier in the week to do as I was taught in the military, I checked and serviced the weapons that I intended to use during the coming weekend. My weapons plan was the following, the ION, the EGO, trusty ole A~5(with a fresh new paint job) and the Alpha~Deuce (Double Trouble A~5) a total of four marker for one man.....crazy! My plan was to use each one for at least one round as I played different roles.
I moved out at o8oo I had one stop to make Walmart (of course), to pick up a few things that I would need for the day. I arrived into the theater of operation a little after 9, to find that SmokinJoe, BamBam and family had set up a very nice staging area, equipped with tables, chairs, coolers of ice, over head cover, air station all arranged in the back yard underneath a the lush green canopy provided by tall trees. Beautiful!!! I could tell that today would be a good day. The guyz started trickling in around 1ooo, so it just about tyme for game on.
First game: Elimination, with Dana, Joe, The Yunker Boy, myself and a few others on defense. I had the Alpha~Deuce so I was setup on a ridge, charged with top cover primarily over the left side of the valley and secondarily the right slope toward the right tapline. We soon caught movement to our front, moving from right to left. I waited to allow the Op4 to move deep into the kill zone. A few troop from Op4 had already been taken down from our left. Finally there was one deep enough to spring the trap, a poor unfortunate soul dressed in all black, sorry Pete. I rained down on him with short burst of automatic fire from the Alpha~Deuce and he was off to the dead box. We soon caught a glimpse of a Tango moving from left to right and falling back. So with that we knew that their flank had fallen. It was now time to move. We pushed forward, boxing them in from their right. We called to Dana and the remaining member on the right to push forward. We soon took out the remaining four or five targets. Sweet!!!
Game Two: Now dressed out with the EGO and joined by young Wesley Newcomb as my new wingman. We move out with Dana running the point, along the left tapeline, he soon makes contact and takes down one Tango, but we lose him to another one, so he's off to the dead box. I open up on the target that took out Dana. The Tango (turns out it was BamBam) calls myself out not sure who hit him, come find out he was taking out by friendly fire, but I'll take it anyway cause just at that moment I catch movement to my right. SmokinJoe is moving up on us. I move left as Wes moves right textbook, we open up the angle and push forward. We soon catch up with him and take him down.
Prior to game three I look around and who do I see Robert "Interrogator" Thompson, Robert was one of the original Boxer Founders, he left our company (Schneider) and moved to GA, so we hadn't played with him in over a year......It's great to see you man!!!!
Game three: I'm now striped of my weapon(s), carrying only a pistol (loan to me by Kong). Our objective is to reach a box, inside are parts of a nuclear device. We are to locate and retrieve it. We move out in a police call line (spread out from tapeline to tapeline) as we search for the box. Once contact was made and I hear our guyz calling out reports of contact, I ask the guyz to move into an Echelon right with Dana at point. After a quick count of the number of Tangos and their location we can tell that they have a strong left defense (our right). I ask all of of guyz, except two to move to the left, this will give us numbers advantage on the left. The other two shooter will act a a blocking force to protect the right flank. Dana is sent far right in an effort to circle around to the Enemy's rear. The plan is working, because I see eliminated Op4 players heading for the dead box. We soon locate the "Box", setup a blocking force to protect it during exaction, another good game!
Recap: 50 people (not all combatants), 3 Boxer, 2 Pit-bulls and a Cocker-spaniel....and lots of fun had by all.
